Netgear scoops prestigious European award for its Nighthawk X10 router

Netgear’s Nighthawk X10 ‘smart router’ featuring 802.11ac and 802.11ad WiFi technology has bagged one of the top awards presented by the European Hardware Association (EHA).
At the Association’s third annual awards ceremony, held last month at the Taipei International Convention Centre in front of an audience of nearly 200 representatives of the largest technology companies in the world, it was announced that Netgear’s new offering had topped the voting in the router category.
The award represents the results of a ballot in which representatives from many of the largest independent IT news websites in Europe – with a combined publishing capacity of more than 100 000 articles per year – took part. The EHA incudes media members in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Poland and Romania.
Tobie van Schalkwyk, Netgear Business Development manager at Duxbury Networking – the local Netgear distributor – says the news sites polled have run many thousands of individual new product tests over the past three years.
“The EHA award is well respected by the IT industry because of this and the fact that more than 22 million visitors access these sites every year. They are exposed to the detailed and cogent content presented by accredited industry professionals.”
Van Schalkwyk says the award serves to underline the relevance and significance of Netgear’s new Nighthawk X10 router which beat out a number of competitors.
“The Nighthawk X10 – the first router to run Plex Media Server software without the need for a computer – has raised the performance bar in a global marketplace where video files are getting larger as 4K resolution and VR and augmented-reality technologies gain in popularity.
“Offloading from capture devices and moving these increasingly substantial files are often challenging and time-consuming tasks. As has been demonstrated, the Nighthawk is powerful enough to move these files at unprecedented speeds within a network and to the cloud while providing simplified access once the files are stored on the network,” he adds.
