Stackable, managed switches from Netgear
A new range of stackable, managed networking switches has been released by Duxbury Networking.
The Netgear ProSAFE M4300 Intelligent Edge Series is designed for mid-enterprise edge and small-to-medium size business core deployments.
According to Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking, the new ProSafe range, which boasts full Power over Ethernet (PoE) provisioning, is the first virtual chassis platform to be targeted at these market segments that permits 10 Gigabit models to be seamlessly stacked with one Gigabit models.
“The M4300 series is flexible enough for mixed stacking between 10 Gigabit and one Gigabit models within the series using any 10G port with any media type,” he explains. “This facilitates the application of ‘spine-and-leaf’ line-rate stacking topologies together with edge-to-core connectivity for unified wired and wireless networks.”
Robb notes that spine-and-leaf stacking topologies offer multiple application possibilities in server rooms, in branch collapsed network cores or at the edge of growing networks. He says features of the new ProSAFE M4300 Series include its dual redundant, modular power supplies which contribute to business continuity management.
From a technical perspective, key attributes of the M4300 Series are its ability to scale from 24x1G to 48x10G units, while non-stop forwarding (NSF) virtual chassis architectures provide advanced High Availability (HA) with hitless failover across the stack.
“In addition, the Layer-3 feature set of the M4300 Series includes static, dynamic and policy-based routing as standard. This is ideally suited to wireless access, unified communications and IP video,” says Robb, adding that the switch is also future-ready with Software-defined Network (SDN) and the OpenFlow 1.3 switch protocol enabled.
The Netgear ProSAFE M4300 Intelligent Edge Series is priced from R32 745 excluding VAT and is available from Duxbury Networking accredited resellers and dealers throughout South Africa.
